Mug Rugs with Decorative Stitches - Appleton

Let’s use those fancy creative stitches on your machine to make Mug Rugs. Each Mug Rug will use 1 fat quarter. Use 4 Fat Quarters to make a set. You may mix and match the fabrics to add some interest. This is a great project to use up some of those smaller scraps in your stash. This project can be done using different types of thread to give it some extra appeal. Be Bold and use some rayon thread.

1. Sewing machine with decorative stitches in GOOD working order
2.1 fat quarter or ¼ yard of fabric for 1 Mug Rug. Increase amount of fabric if you want to make
more than 1.
3.Thread—can use cotton, polyester, or rayon 40wt. You can use 1 color, several colors, or
variegated adds some interest.
4.Rotary cutter & small mat
5.Scissors
6.Basic Sewing supplies
7.Needle—80-12 universal or an 75/11 embroidery are recommended
